An analysis of remote monitoring of postsurgical wounds.

This literature review analyzed articles related to remote monitoring and management of post-surgical wounds using smartphone applications. The topics explored included smartphone app importance to telemedicine, benefits, app examples and challenges in the context of wound monitoring and management. 276 articles related to telemedicine in wounds were included. 

Remote monitoring and management of wounds using apps is a valuable technique to enhance the quality of and access to healthcare. However, while some patients may prefer it, others lack technological competence, limiting telemedicine’s applicability.
