Pressure injuries (PIs) are a significant challenge in healthcare, impacting patient outcomes and increasing costs. This retrospective study demonstrates the power of digital wound care in accelerating healing times. Data from 59 home health organizations across the US who adopted the Swift Skin & Wound in 2021 and continued its use through 2022 and 2023 were analyzed.
Key findings include:
- Dramatic Reduction in Healing Time: Average healing time decreased by 29.3 days (4.2 weeks) from 2022 to 2023, a 36.8% improvement.
- Improved Healing for Chronic Wounds: Healing time for PIs taking longer than three months to heal decreased significantly by 73.2 days (10.5 weeks).
- Faster Area Reduction: Non-healed PIs showed a significant increase in area reduction, with an average reduction of 12.5 cm2 in 2023.
- Quicker Time to Improvement: The time to observe improvement in non-healed PIs decreased by 25.4% from 2022 to 2023.
